Misery Business

Why are humans in the business of misery?

Why is it we complain instead of compliment? (ourselves and others)

Why do we dread instead of dare to be hopeful?

Why do we focus on what we lack, rather than what we have?

Well, we do it for a lot of reasons! Sometimes it’s becuase of our environment or how we were conditioned throughout our lives, and mostly it’s because of what we are exposed to/ what people talk about these days.

Especially this time of year. Everyone’s outlook subtly shifts to a more negative one.

Well here is a practice I picked up from a friend that can help you shift your perspective and bring a little more joy and overall contentment into your life.

5 Minute Gratefulness Practice

Every day make a note on your phone or in a notebook and write these 3 titles.
Grateful
Gains
Notes to self

For each heading write 2 small notes.

2 things you are grateful for today, (this can be literally anything)
2 things you gained today, (perspectives, experiences, etc.)
2 notes to self (compliment yourself, note self learns, other positives)

*
Try this tonight before bed, or after work when you settled down for the night.

This simple exercise will slowly turn your internal frown upside down. By showing you what you have rather than what you lack, you will soon see how every day has its positives—and that’s just it! When we practice better habits, even better thought habits, we train our brains just like we train our bodies.

To get stronger and to be more positive, which ultimately leads to more happiness and fulfillment.

When we stop and appreciate our experiences in this life and do so with a positive outlook, that’s when we recognize that everything we don’t have, everything negative, and everything “else”… matters a lot less.

Happiness and joy are present every day, we just have to allow ourselves to see it.

This practice I have found is especially beneficial in hard times and in those times I try to perform it daily.

With that said we should strive in good times to practice gratefulness as well, even if it is just weekly. Imagine what a beautiful read these would all be at the end of your year, it may even make you reconsider whether a year was indeed as bad as you thought it was.

Grateful to be writing to you, I hope you give this a shot!

As you might have guessed from the title, the song of the day today is…

Misery Business- Paramore

I’m grateful for songs like this that take us back with some…

BIG-TIME FEEL GOOD NOSTALGIA.

ENJOY 😊
